Under M25 VI - Abstracted

£600
Number VI (6) in the ongoing series “Scenes from below the M25”, this painting is inspired by a section of the Wey Navigation below the M25 at Byfleet.
At certain times of the day, usually the beginning or end, when the sun is low on the horizon, light hits this concrete structure in a way that really underscores how unnatural it is. Highly contrasting triangular shafts of light makes the scene perfect for abstraction. And although, I'm not there yet (with abstract art that is), I wanted to try something new and represent this special place in a different way. Hence the mixed media, particularly the addition of charcoal which I think emphatically emphasises the contrast between light and dark.
